Biography in Brief |
|
Yong-Won Ahn holds a BS.c in the department of Astronomy and Space Science
at Chungbuk National University in South Korea. He
also holds an M.Sc.E from the Department of Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary (UofC) obtained in 2005. He is
currently a Ph.D candidate and has been appointed as an instructor from 2008 to
now in the Department of Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering at the
University of New Brunswick (UNB), co-supervised by Prof.Dare and Dr.Kim. He has actively involved
in GNSS (global navigation satellite system) research from Space Geodesy Division at Korea Astronomy and Space Science
Institute (KASI, currently one of IGS (international GNSS service) data centres) since 1996
in several different areas as a research staff. He also involved in the telemetry
data analysis for KomSat, the first Korea communication satellite,
at Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) in 1996.
His previous research areas
include in geodynamics (neotectonics), telemetry data analysis, SLR
(satellite laser ranging), orbit determination of LEO satellite using Cowell,
Encke, VOP (variation of parameters), Kozai's method. In addition to them, he
also involved in the research of earthquake analysis, auto-artillery system
using GNSS, prediction of gas pipe displacement.
His main research focus from 2002 includes in the
tropospheric delay estimation with GNSS observables, radiosonde data, the ray-tracing
technique using numerical weather prediction model (NWP, e.g. NOAA RUC20), and atmospheric and space-borne simulation by SPRINT's GNSS hardware simulators. His current goal is to
mitigate the tropospheric anomaly effect on GNSS in order to get a reliable
position solution with his own developing platform, enhanced RTK positioning
software written by C++, and Matlab.
His officially managed site is http://kepler.gge.unb.ca (SuomiNet SA56).
Instruments managed are SPIRENT's STR4760 GNSS hardware simulator (dual
chassis), lots of high precision GNSS receivers, antennae, 3D motion table for
attitude determination, Paroscientific Met4A-1, Radimetric water vapor
radiometer WVR-1100, and etc.
